Mary Elizabeth (Greaney) O’Loughlin, age 95, of Winchester, passed away on March 24, 2026. She was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Doherty) Greaney and the beloved wife of the late Paul F. O’Loughlin. She was preceded in death by her brother Martin Greaney and her sister, Josephine Greaney.

Born in Winchester, Mary was raised in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn Memorial High School. During high school, she was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps of Immaculate Conception Parish and played shortstop for Immaculate Conception’s CYO softball team. Their team went on to be sectional champions, losing to Pennsylvania in the Regional Semifinal. After high school Mary worked as an operator at American Telephone and Telegraph in Winchester.

She and Paul were married at Immaculate Conception Church in 1958. They settled in Tewksbury and welcomed two sons, Sean born in 1962 and Desmond born in 1966. Mary loved to travel and visited Cuba and Jamaica in the late 1950’s with her late sister, Josephine (“Joie”) and Mexico City in the early 1970’s. She and Paul traveled to Ireland and Northern Ireland numerous times to visit family and friends. They also traveled to Germany and Switzerland. After Paul’s death she and Joie would winter in Florida.

Mary was a natural athlete, a gifted artist and decorator and loved slowly renovating her 300+-year-old home. She will be remembered for her warm and welcoming personality; there was always plenty of room for visitors.

Mary is survived by her son, Sean O’Loughlin, his wife Mary Frances, her grandson Frank, her son Desmond O’Loughlin and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Irish International Immigrant Center, Attn: Fund Development, One State Street, Suite 800, Boston, MA 02109. www.iiicenter.org
