Mary Rhoades Obituary
She was born on April 21, 1954 to Charles Thoms Tatum and Vera A. (Winkle) Tatum-Stafford in Point Pleasant, MO. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mary graduated from Portageville High School in 1972 and received her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO and earned her master's degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN.
She married James Dale Rhoades on September 7, 1974 in Portageville, MO.
Mary was an elementary school teacher and taught at St Eustachius Roman Catholic School in Portageville, MO. She retired in 2016 after 23 years of teaching.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, James Dale Rhoades of Hartford City; daughter, Bree-Anna D. (husband, Devin) Caldwell of Hartford City; granddaughter, Hadley F. Caldwell; brother, Jr. (wife, kay) Tatum of Point Pleasant, MO; sisters, Donna (husband, Jack) Cayton of Point Pleasant, MO and Shirley (husband, Henry) Versemann of Hillsboro, MO; three half-sisters; several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Tatum and Aubra Tatum.
Mary will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City is in charge of arrangements.
