Mary Jo Ribeiro, 96, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home, Chelmsford.
She was born in Lowell on July 24, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Manuel A. and Antonia (Pitta) Ribeiro.
Mary Jo was raised in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1947. She devoted her career to Hewlett Packard as an administrative assistant, serving over 40 years until her retirement in 1996. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Parish in Lowell. In her spare time, she enjoyed cheering on all of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. She was a caring person, who donated generously and quietly to many different charitable organizations over the years. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family.
Mary Jo leaves her sister Belmeda Ribeiro of Chelmsford; her niece Karin L. Duarte of Chelmsford; her grandnephews Luis Duarte, his wife Jill, and their daughter Quinn, and Manuel Duarte and his wife Tiffany of Florida. She also leaves several beloved Godchildren.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her sister Angelina Ribeiro.
Mary Jo's family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors in Dracut and Sunny Acres in Chelmsford for their kindness and great care they provided.
To honor the full life Mary Jo lived, we invite you to wear any shade of blue, which was her favorite color.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society at https://www.nationalmssociety.org/.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11 am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Kindly gather at the church. Interment will be held privately.
