Mary Louise Schild, age 80, passed away suddenly on December 19, 2024. Mary was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and lived a life of service to others.
After raising four children she began her journey in higher education which ended with a Masters Degree in Counseling. She then served as Director of Sunrise Childrens Services in Kentucky where she took pride in providing the youth in her program with a safe and loving environment. Mary served at risk teenagers in varied ways that included standing before a judge advocating for them, taking them to Walmart to buy a winter coat or cooking them her famous lasagna and cheesecake. Upon retirement, she turned her attention to serving friends, family and church community.
Mary's greatest gift was making people feel like she had all the time in the world to listen to them and support them.
Mary is survived by her children David (Kathy) Schild, Dawn (Ken) Wimberley, Mary Beth (Mike) Barnett, Laurie (Chad)Trammell, nephew Steve Russonello, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, January 2 at 3pm at St Clare Catholic Church in Berea, KY followed by a reception.
In honor of Mary, memorial donations should be made to Sunrise Children's Services https://www.sunrise.org/donate/
