Salem resident, Mrs. Mary Jane Shaver, 84, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Salem Health Hospital in Salem, Oregon.
Mary was born April 15, 1941 to William Chester and Marjorie (Stalnaker) Snyder in Newport, Oregon. She had lived in Eugene, Oregon before making Salem her home. Mary enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, camping, fishing in small rivers and her family.
"Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many," wrote the family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harry Snyder. She is survived by her husband Roy Elmer Shaver of Salem, OR; sons, Pat Shaver and his wife, Rachael of Prineville, OR; Dale Shaver and his wife Karen of Rozet, WY; daughters, Janice McKay and her husband, Mac of Salem, OR, Mary Sproul and her husband Bill of Dundee, OR; Debi Sipes and her husband, John of Blaine, WA; sisters, Darla Snyder of Salem, OR, Judy Littau and her husband Matt of Hines, OR and Margie Kroker of Fort Collins, CO; brother, Steve Snyder and his wife Elaine of Lincoln City, OR; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; 1 great-great grandchild plus one on the way.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Bateman Funeral Home, 915 NE Yaquina Heights Dr. in Newport. Viewing will be one hour prior to the services. Matt Littau will officiate. Graveside services will immediately follow the services at the Eureka Cemetery in Newport. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Christopher & Michael Sproul, Jason Wilson, and Cody Shaver; and great-grandsons, Nicholas & Jacob Watkins.
Arrangements were cared for by the Bateman Funeral Home.
