Mary Fetzner Shaw, age 77 of West Springfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 1, 2026.
Mary was born on February 25, 1948, in Lawrence Park, Pennsylvania, to Marion and Arthur Fetzner. She graduated from Iroquois High School in 1966 and went on to earn her Associate’s degree in journalism from Penn State Behrend, where she made the Dean’s List.
In 1970, Mary married the love of her life, David Shaw. Together, they built their dream home by hand in West Springfield, Pennsylvania, creating a life rooted in love, hard work, and partnership.
Mary worked at the Erie Animal Hospital, a fitting role for someone who deeply loved animals. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and music. Mary was known for her gentle spirit and will be remembered as kind, generous, and compassionate.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Arthur Fetzner, and her brothers, Arthur and James Fetzner. She is survived by her loving husband, David Shaw, and her sisters, Lori Sailor and Roberta Jones.
Arrangements are being handled by Burton Funeral Home in Girard, Pennsylvania. Mary will be interred at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
