Mary Ann Sobitz went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 3, 2025.
She was born to Wesley and Katy Sobitz December 26, 1930. She loved sports and played softball early in life and played golf for many years and was very good in both sports, especially golf where she played in many tournaments in the Akron Canton area. But the most important thing in her life was when she trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and walked with Him the rest of her life. She studied the Word of God (Bible) and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many people including her family. Many people were affected by her life which was dedicated to Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dorothy (Terry) Prunari, Violet Sobitz, Catherine (Al) Emich, her brothers Mike (Barbara), Wesley, Tim (Sue), niece Cindy Sisler, nephew Brian Sobitz, and friend Helouise Gates.
She is survived by sister-in-law Sue Sobitz, nephews Michael (Kathy), Tim (Brenda) Sobitz, Steve (Maria), Jeff, and nieces Lynn (Jim) Messenger, Pam Emich, Sheila (Larry) Trombka, Cheryl (Billy) Paz, Debbie (Mike) Martell and many great nephews and nieces and friends.
Special thanks to the staff at Gentlebrook and the Town Square Hospice care staff.
A funeral service will be held Friday, 11 AM, October 10, at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. The service will be conducted by her nephew, Michael J. Sobitz. An opportunity to greet the family will begin half an hour prior to the service.
