Mary Stancombe Shipley, 82, of Bloomington went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN. She was the daughter of William and Ethel (Neal) Stancombe. Mary worked at Indiana University for many years and became a home health aide which she was very passionate about. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandma, memaw, and aunt. She always tried to be funny and make others laugh. She was the prankster in the family and rest assured, it was passed down. She loved the company of her family and dear friends. She is the glue in the family and backbone! She was very strong and not much scared her. She will be sadly missed.
Mary is survived by her faithful husband of 18+ years, Fred Shipley; grandchildren, Leah Barker, Zack (Lisa) Frame, Darrell (Alyssa) Hildum, Brandon (Sarah) Hildum, Rachel (Jeff) Daves, Ryan Barker, Melissa (Matt) Barker-Becraft, and Michael Barker; great grandchildren, Clayton Lirot, Makenzie and Nathan, Iron Hildum, Khloe, Gracie Daves, Avery Frame, and Izabella Sansone; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Tom, Darrell, and Mark Barker; five sisters, Thelma Bezek, Elmira Crouch, Dollie Merida, Marsha Avers and Wanda McCormick and; one brother, William Stancombe.
Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home (4155 S. Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN 47401) on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10am-2pm with the funeral service following at 2pm with Donny Campbell officiating.
Mary will be sadly missed by all her family.
