Mary Ellen Vausbinder, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024.
She was born October 26, 1936, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Evelyn (Beckley) Long. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1954.
Mary Ellen was employed by USD 501 for many years working at West Avondale and Randolph Elementary schools.
Mary Ellen married John Edward Vausbinder on November 27, 1954. Survivors include her Husband, Daughter, Tammi (Raymond) Ayala, Son in law, Mike (Karla) Mosher, Daughter, Tracye (Jeff) Scheidegger, Son, Trent (Kim) Vausbinder, Grandchildren, Christopher Ayala, Angela (Isauro) Ayala, Daniel (Laura) Ayala, Shawn (Sarah) Mosher, Jenny (Nick) Stroup, Alex (Melissa) Scheidegger, Bailey (Josh) Scheidegger, Sierra (Evan) Hennessy, Jake (Kelsi) Kresin, and Katye (Connor)Vausbinder, Great grandchildren, Alec Gray, Camryn (Jared) Esquibel, Sydney Serrano, Jameson Steinbock, Ava Ayala, Finn Ayala, Piper Ayala, Keely Mosher, Caden Mosher, Harper Stroup, Parker Stroup, Jordan Scheidegger and Hunter Scheidegger. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Clarence, Carver, Charles and Tommy, Daughter, Trina Mosher and Great granddaughter, Blake Scheidegger.
Mary Ellen enjoyed holidays, family traditions, gatherings, cooking, annual shopping trips, flowers and most of all her family and friends.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday, September 20, 2024 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blake Strong Foundation sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 1321 W. 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.
