On Monday, February 17, 2025, Mary P. Wolfe went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. Our Mama, 'Granny', and life-long friend was born on November 2, 1934, in Gainesville, Cooke County, Texas, to her parents Ulan Brice Woody and Toska Bowles Woody. Mary graduated from Gainesville High School in 1953. She attended North Texas State College in Denton, Texas, and received her teaching degree in 1957, followed by a year of teaching in Whery Housing on Shepherd Air Force Base,
Wichita Falls, Texas. While teaching, she met her future husband, Franklin D. Wolfe. They were married on June 28, 1958, and were blessed with three wonderful children, Clint Mathew Wolfe, Kenneth Morgan Wolfe and Mary Lynn Wolfe.
Mary was fondly known as 'Mama', 'Mama Wolfe', 'Granny, and Miss Mary by her many loved ones. She was loving and nurturing, the home base for her own children as well as her many 'adopted' ones. She worked in her children's classrooms as room mother and PTA member. An active, life long member in the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Mary loved to research her family history through genealogy tracing where she documented many generations to the 16th Century. Mary also dearly loved her church, Faith Baptist, where she attended ladies Bible study for many years with very dear friends. As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, she attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
In the summer time, Mary loved to travel with her family and extended family to Red River, New Mexico, to look at the beautiful mountains, enjoy the 4th of July parade, and spend quality time together. She always kept busy at home reading her books, doing crafts, crocheting beautiful blankets, making ceramics, sewing and painting.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Franklin D. Wolfe and her brother William Woody and his wife Suzi Woody.
She is survived by her children Clint Mathew Wolfe and his wife Julie; Kenneth Morgan Wolfe and his wife Pam; and Mary Lynn Bennett and her husband Tommy. She has six precious grandchildren who she was so proud of, Shannon Perez and her husband Henry; Jessica Dixon and her husband J.D.; Mathew Wolfe and his wife Stephanie; Kevin Wolfe and wife Alicia; Kristin Wolfe, and Bryan Wolfe. She has eight great-grandchildren who adored their Granny.
Many thanks go to the Bestcare staff at Royal Estates and Healing Hands Hospice.
Mary will be lying in state for viewing and visitation at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home from Thursday February 20th at 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday, February 25th at 10:00 a.m. for those who wish to pay last respects.
A private family graveside service will be at Crestview Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Shields officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
