Maryann Denniston, 75, of Waukesha, WI passed away at home on Wednesday, June 15, 2025, with her family by her side.
Maryann was born on August 24, 1949, the daughter of Leonard and Mary (née Gonzales) Hernandez. She was born and raised in Waukesha and after graduating from Waukesha South High School in 1967, she married and was blessed with her two wonderful children Matthew and Justin. Throughout the years, she worked at Sears, Quad Graphics, and ProHealth. Over many of these years she treasured living on Nagawicka Lake and the beautiful sunsets from her home.
On April 3, 2004, Maryann married James Denniston and the two would go on to enjoy over 20 years of marriage. Maryann was a devoted wife and a proud and loving mother and grandmother. Maryann did everything she could to provide for her boys, giving them the most amazing childhood. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was quick to help her grandchildren with any project that came up from sewing and knitting, to picking flowers and vegetables, to painting and coloring. She was a passionate gardener and woodworker which was shown by her endless homemade holiday ornaments. Maryann loved to travel with Jim and their adventures took them to many beautiful places around the country.
She will be missed by her adoring children Matthew (Charleen) Scherer of Delafield, Justin (Jessica) Scherer of Delafield; her grandchildren Jacob Scherer, Eva James Scherer, Jillian Scherer, Allen Scherer, and Alexa Scherer. She is also survived by her siblings Michael (Karen) Hernandez, Dolores Trevino, William Hernandez, Ronald Hernandez, Leon (Maria) Hernandez, and Ralph (Debbie) Hernandez, her dear nieces and nephews.
Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Martin Hernandez, her sister Constance Gutierrez, and her brother-in-law Louis Travino. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Jessica Scherer (Daughter In-Law), Rachel O’Brien (Niece), and Debbie Hernandez (Sister In-Law) who along with her loving husband Jim provided so much care in her final months and days.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 South Grand Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. The family encourages everyone to wear color in memory of Maryann's bright spirit.
