MaryAnn (Lewis) Racette, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025 at the age of 80.
Born to Cal and Ella Lewis on February 28, 1945, MaryAnn grew up on a farm outside of Aurora, Oregon. She attended North Marion High School, where she met her future husband, Ken, when they starred together in a class play; one which fittingly ended with their characters getting married. MaryAnn attended OSU for a time, but found she didn't like being so far away from loved ones, so she returned home and began working at North Marion Grade School.
In 1968, MaryAnn married her high school sweetheart, Ken Racette. They made their home in the Canby area and welcomed two children; daughter Andria and son Christopher. MaryAnn dedicated herself to her family, becoming a homemaker and creating a warm and loving home.
She volunteered countless hours at her children's school as a room-mother, organizing the school carnival, and leading the PTA; even serving as Co-President of the Clackamas County PTA. She was also a Camp Fire leader, founding the first club at her children's school, and volunteering each summer at Camp Onahlee, first as a counselor, then session leader, and eventually as Site Director.
MaryAnn loved music and singing, and she filled her home with song and joy. She was an avid reader and enjoyed participating in the book club at the Canby Library. She and Ken planted a large garden each year, and she had an especially green thumb where tomatoes were concerned; sometimes growing plants that reached 6 or 7 feet tall!
MaryAnn had a beautiful, generous spirit, and was a help and inspiration to many. She will always be remembered for her warmth and kindness to others, and for the love and care she showed her family.
She is survived by her husband Ken; daughter Andria (Mark); son Chris (Laurene); her grandchildren Nicholas and Ava, whom she adored; and her sister Anita. No public memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canby Kiwanis Club.
