Maryjane Kay Smith (Zinda), 65, of Peoria, Arizona, went to be with Jesus on October 25, 2025, at Banner Boswell Hospital surrounded by the love of her life.
Maryjane was born on September 17, 1960, in Appleton, Minnesota, to her loving mother and father, Gladys Harriet Zinda and Richard Edward Zinda. She went on to build a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends. She married her soulmate, Larry James Smith, they were together for 50 beautiful years and they created a home that radiated warmth, joy, and countless memories.
She was the proud mother of Shannon Kay Smith-Westfall and Jeffery Wayne Smith, and the cherished grandmother of Cheyan Mead, Wyatt Coady, Dalton Coady, Aria Smith, and Lela Smith. Her heart overflowed with pride and love for her great-grandchildren, Asa Mead and Maisie Mead. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Roxanne Marie Nichele, Julianne Mae Zinda, Dondi Richard Zinda, and Nancy Jo Faulkner.
Maryjane worked as the Practice Optimization Coordinator at Profitable PPO’s, where she dedicated the last nine years of her career. She adored her coworkers and took great pride in her work, always giving her best and bringing kindness, humor, and a touch of sparkle to everyone she met.
A creative spirit with a deep love for beauty, Maryjane had an undeniable talent for interior design — her home looked as if it came straight out of Home and Gardens magazine. With Larry’s help, she turned her design dreams into reality, building a space filled with love, light, and laughter. She loved cooking and baking for her friends and family, often filling her home with delicious aromas and heartfelt gatherings especially on holidays.
Maryjane treasured her travels, especially family vacations to Newport Beach, California, and West Layfette, Ohio which she remembered with great fondness. Even at 65, she continued to live life with joy and spontaneity — whether hosting a dinner, redecorating a room in her home, or getting tattoos on a whim. Her zest for life, caring heart, and adventurous spirit left an undeniable mark on everyone who knew her.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her so deeply.
“She made everywhere she went feel like home and her sparkle will continue to be felt forever.”
Funeral and celebration of life details will be shared with family and friends on her and Larry’s Facebook page.
