Marylyn Irene Vowels

Marylyn Irene (Baumgart) Vowels, 93, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville.
Marylyn was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 8, 1932, to the late Victor and Helen (Hirsch) Baumgart. She graduated from St. Benedict Catholic School and Memorial High School. Marylyn attended St. Mary's of the Woods. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where she worked as the librarian at the school. Marylyn volunteered at Deaconess Hospital and as a Pink Lady at St. Mary's Hospital. She had a creative spirit as a talented artist and seamstress. Marylyn was a kind-loving Catholic mother of nine children. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Marylyn is survived by her children, Kathleen Schlechte, Samuel Vowels, Barbara Woodruff, Robert Vowels (Cathy), Patricia Johnson (Gary Radford), Linda Cundiff, Larry Vowels, Brian Vowels, and David Vowels; sister, Joyce Negley; grandchildren, Nathan Pyle, Stevie Johnson, Jessica Neidig (Josh), Katherine Glover, Brennan Woodruff, Maddie Downin (Andrew), Courtney Woodruff, Christian Vowels, Johnna Vowels, Hannah Vowels, Mason Cundiff, and Dalton Cundiff; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild with one on the way.
Marylyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Samuel G. Vowels; and son-in-law, Tom Schlechte.
Private services and burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
