Matthew Cassidy Morrisville, Pennsylvania July 21, 1966 - August 1, 2025 Matthew passed away peacefully at home in the care of his loving family on August 1, 2025. Matthew was a long time resident of Staten Island and then Morrisville, Pennsylvania. He was born in Staten Island, NY, on July 21, 1966. Matthew received his sacraments and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish and School, a place he remembered fondly. He went to Tottenville High School and then attended Brooklyn College where he earned a BFA. Matthew held many different positions in the medical/dental insurance field. For the last 22 years, he was an employee of I.E. Schaffer, where he spent quality time with his work family, especially Terri Trasatti and Nancy Brannan. When he was younger, Matthew served as a volunteer for children with disabilities but he continued on serving his community in Pennsylvania at a soup kitchen for several years. Matthew found a fulfilling and creative outlet in theater. He had a passion for acting, performing, and writing. He acted in many local productions, which gave him a wonderful sense of community. His favorite role was Scrooge and he was forever grateful to his dear friend Dennis McGuire for being his voice coach. He also wrote diverse stories and plays providing close friends and family with hours of entertainment you would not find anywhere else. Matthew will be sadly missed and is survived by his siblings: Mary (Cassidy) and Jim Murphy, John and Lynn Cassidy, Dennis Cassidy and David McCarthy, Donna (Cassidy) and Bill Perk, Linda (Cassidy) and Edward Moon, Brian Patrick Cassidy and Shannon Jones and family friend Dale Golterman. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jeanette Perk-Jacobson and Kevin Jacobson, Caitlin and David Flores, Nicholas Moon, Jessica Perk-Alvarez and Eddy Alvarez, Patrick Ryan, Jillian Cassidy, Samantha Griffin Moon, Michael Cassidy, John Cassidy, Colleen Cassidy, Connor Cassidy, Maeve Cassidy, Kerry Cassidy, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Matthew was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Monica and Peter Rudden, father John "Jack" Cassidy and beloved aunts and uncles. We know he was greeted by all and is entertaining everyone. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 16, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 5411 Amboy Road, Huguenot at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
