Matthew William Dolan

Matthew William Dolan of Norton Ohio passed away July 14th, 2025, at the age of 65 at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus after a long illness.
He was born February 6, 1960, in Mount Clemens Michigan the youngest child and only son of William Hugh Dolan and Delores Elaine (Brown) Dolan
He spent his early years as a small-town boy from Memphis, Michigan. After he graduated high school from Memphis High School in 1978, he continued his education at Western Michigan University graduating with a bachelor's in science and petroleum distribution in 1982. He went on to work for Marathon Oil Company in everything from marketing to natural gas to transportation. His job took him and his family from Ohio to Michigan to Texas then to Medina Ohio in 1994 where he finished raising his family and lived for 17 years. He worked a very successful career at Marathon for almost 35 years and retired in 2015. After retirement he moved to Lake Lure, North Carolina where he enjoyed golfing and the mountain life for several years, including being an active volunteer for the Lake Lure Lions Club and a volunteer for Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach. In 2024 after Hurricane Helene struck Lake Lure, he decided it was time to move back home to Ohio where he could be closer to his daughters and grandchildren and enjoy his final months with his family who loved and had missed him very much.
While in college he met his wife, Selina Kay Thornton. They were married on September 25th, 1982, at St Augustine Catholic Cathedral in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Selina passed away on February 27th, 2004, after 21 years of marriage and adventures.
Matt is survived by his daughters Jilayne May and Margaret Dolan (Melissa) both of Ohio. His grandchildren Brenden Stage, Matthew May, Olivia Weitzman-Dolan, Dean Weitzman-Dolan, Ariel May and Sabrina May. His sisters Laura (Doug) Browne, Elaine (Harold) Frank and Janis Ambrose all of Michigan. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends from all over.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Selina, his parents and his beloved dogs Lady and Cody
Cremation will take place. A private family celebration of life will happen in the near future and his cremated remains will be buried with his late wife Selina at Memphis Cemetery in Memphis Michigan where they can eternally be together in peace.
