Matthew F. Gates passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 53. He was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, October 12, 1970, the son of Frederick and Judith (nee: Corbeille) Gates. Matthew was a 1989 graduate of Brookfield East High School. After High School he went on to earn a Bachelor of Communication Degree from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Matthew worked many years in sales, most recently with the American Red Cross. He was a passionate Ohio sports fan especially “The” Ohio State and Cleveland Browns. He was a lover of horror, comedy, and action cinema.
He is survived by the mother of his children and former spouse, Kelly (nee Bowerman) Gates of Waukesha, and his children Gabby Gates, Tatum Gates, and Cy Gates all of Waukesha. He is further survived by his father Frederick Gates of The Villages, Florida, his stepmother Nancy Gates of Summerfield, Florida, and his siblings Tracey (Michael Mueller) Gates of New Berlin and Sean (Victoria) Gates of Menomonee Falls, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Judith.
Matthew’s family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Thunder Bay Grille, N14 W24130 Tower Place, Pewaukee, WI 53072. The gathering will begin with a visitation in the canoe room from 11-12:30 with lunch to follow.
