With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man, Matt Janicki, who left this world far too soon on February 17, 2025. A loving husband to Hillary Kufahl Janicki, cherished son of Don and Jane Janicki (Winter) of Milwaukee; beloved son-in-law of Hal and Shirlee Kufahl (Duelge) of New Berlin. He was a devoted brother to Stephanie (Frank) Calarco of Brookfield; special brother-in-law to Heather (Phil) Kaye of New Berlin. He'll be remembered as a doting uncle to Annabel, Gracie, Noah, Micah, Willa, Maddy, and AJ. Matt was also a dear cousin, nephew, friend, and a devoted cat-dad to Ella, Jameson, and Remy.
Matt was born in Milwaukee, WI on November 28, 1976, and attended Thomas More High School and studied at Marquette University and UW Oshkosh before getting his degree at UW-Milwaukee. He worked at Molson Coors for over 17 years, most recently as a Category Management Analyst. He will be remembered by colleagues for being the ultimate team player, dropping anything he was doing to help others, and believing the success of his teammates was the measure of his own success. He met Hillary in 2006, and the couple were married in 2011.
Matt lived a spirited life, marked by his loving, kind, and generous nature. His magnetic smile, welcoming personality, and keen sense of humor made for an abundance of deep friendships. He became fast friends with all he encountered, never forgetting a name or a face. He never missed a beat on a good joke or a chance to celebrate the wins or critique the losses of his favorite sports teams. He had a gift for turning any occasion, real or imagined, into a celebration, always ready to entertain with his infectious enthusiasm. His love language was cooking, and he expressed it beautifully, crafting culinary masterpieces as an amazing cook. His passion for animals was boundless, and he cared for them deeply - from the birds and squirrels he diligently fed at his numerous feeders to the wildlife he nurtured around his home. Summers found him presiding over the Janicki "Oasis," grilling poolside, while winters were spent hosting in the "Janicki Restaurant and Lounge," complete with endless Miller Lites and celebratory touchdown shots for his guests. A diverse music selection was the soundtrack to his life, with live music inspiring travels alongside his beloved concert partner, Hillary, beginning with their chance Dave Matthews Band encounter.
