Matthew John Koncilja was born on February 9, 1983 in Pueblo, Colorado and was called home to the Lord to join his family and friends in Heaven on Sunday February 16, 2025 with his parents and siblings by his side. Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents John Koncilja Jr., Martha Koncilja, Keith and Sally Hed and aunt Carey Koncilja. He leaves behind his parents John Koncilja, stepmom Geri Koncilja and Diane (Larry) Caffey as well as his sisters Sarah (Anthony) Bowman, Sylvie (Marco) Koncilja, Nealy Koncilja and nieces Aubrey and Charlotte Bowman. Matthew leaves behind his aunts Lois Brown, Cathi Martino, Donna Hed and uncle Michael Hed along with many other extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Matthew lived a quiet and content life with the things that brought him joy-fast cars, loud music and the love of his family. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. He graduated from Central High School in 2002 where he made many friends and excelled in his music. From there he moved on to CSU-Pueblo where he majored in business. He was diligent, hardworking, and always dedicated to giving his best in everything he did. He loved his first car, a gold Chrysler Laser, more than any other car that he had owned, spending hours in that car listening to his favorite bands even before he could drive. He loved his video calls with his nieces and always got the biggest kick out of being called a "octurnal animal" by his niece because he liked to stay up late. Matthew radiated warmth, kindness and genuine care for others, leaving a lasting impression on all that knew him.
He was the music to our family, always bringing people together with his infectious spirit and heartwarming presence. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, and he will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. We would like to thank all who have shared their love and support for Matthew and our family during this time. Cremation has taken place; private services will be held at a later time.
