Obituary
On the afternoon of December 20, 2022, God issued Matthew Lamar Mathis his wings to enter into heaven. Born to the proud parents of Damon Stinson, III and Veronica Mathis on May 16, 1983, in Charlotte, NC.
Matthew graduated from Thomasville Senior High School with the Class of 2001. He was employed throughout the Triad area as a forklift operator.
Matthew favorite pastime was music, whether listening or composing he gave it his all. Engrossed and expressing all elements of life Matthew and his friends: Al Williams, Jermaine Davis and Antonio Scott formed their musical group, "Harmony". Matthew also enjoyed watching basketball and football games, especially the "Dallas Cowboys".
Gone but never forgotten Matthew leaves to cherish his memories to his children, Elijah Paul Mathis and Isabella Marie Mathis both of Thomasville, his mother, Veronica Mathis of the home; his father, Damon Stinson, III of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Oliva Stinson of Charlotte, NC; his grandmothers, Thelma Mathis of Thomasville, NC and Lottie Stinson of Charlotte, NC; three uncles, Donnie (Carla) Holt, Carlos Mathis, and Bradley Green; six aunts, Toleda Mathis, Marlo Mathis, Bridgett Melton and Renada (Desi) Eldridge and Heather (Jonathan) Goins; great uncle, J.W. (Wincy) Mathis; special cousins, Sheneda (Tiwon) Baxter, Kalia Mathis, Demetria Mathis, Catria Melton, Burnace Melton, Jr., Shana DeShazo, Lucas Goins and Kaden Goins and a host of other relatives and friends. Matthew was proceeded in death by his grandfathers, Damon Stinson, Jr. and Allen Green and a great uncle, Roosevelt (Peter) Mathis.
