Matthew J. McDonald

EASTON----Matthew J. McDonald, 37, a lifelong resident of Easton, MA passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2023.
Born in Stoughton, MA, a son of Michael J. and Donna (Fish) McDonald of Mansfield, MA, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. He continued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Comparative Literature.
Most recently, Matthew was employed as a Substance Abuse Counselor. He had also started and worked as the Head of the Reiki Program at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He became the first male Rape Crisis Counselor at UMass Amherst and received the Humanitarian Award from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2008.
Matthew loved animals, especially his dog Penny, and also enjoyed reading and drawing in his spare time. He was a lifelong learner who enjoyed exploring many pathways of spirituality. He was a mentor and friend to many people.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Michael McDonald Jr. and his wife Brooke of Naples, FL, Meaghan McDonald of Arlington, VA, and Jarred McDonald of Mansfield, MA. He is also survived by his aunt Gail Fish of Lakeville, MA, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, July 6th at Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, in Easton at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, July 5th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew's memory may be sent to The Association for Sober Living, 180 North Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760 or to MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
