Matthew Pepper Sisson
May 9,1972 ~ December 18, 2024
Matthew Pepper Sisson, age 52, passed away from natural causes at his home on December 18, 2024. Pepper was the son of the late William Allen and Sandra Pepper Sisson of Bellefontaine and the husband of the late Gwen Woods Sisson.
Pepper Sisson was truly one of a kind. His humor, love for others, and friendly smiles and waves will be cherished memories for many people for many years to come. His resilience in overcoming a life-threatening traumatic brain injury at the age of 20 was amazing. At that time, in 1992, his doctors did not expect him to recover. But recover he did!
Despite a few limitations, Pepper enjoyed thirty-two more years of life with his family. He married Gwen Woods in the year 2000. Together they were full of life, fun, and service to others. They especially loved spending time with their two nephews, Jarod and Eli Woods, and their two nieces, Georgia and Maggie Sisson. Pepper remained a loving, supportive husband to Gwen, as she battled cancer the last few years of her life. Even after her death in 2022, Pepper was still a gentle, helpful, faithful brother to Mitchell Sisson and a sweet, supportive friend to many. H was especially close to his Aunt Monnete Pearson.
He is survived by his brother Mitchell Grady Sisson (Christy); nieces Georgia Mitchell Sisson and Margaret Duncan Sisson; Gwen's parents Jerald and Betty Woods; Gwen's brother Jeremy Woods; nephews Jarod Woods and Elijah Woods; and many cousins and other relatives who loved him dearly.
Pepper is preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Woods Sisson, and his parents, William Allen "Bill" Sisson and Sandra Pepper Sisson.
