Mrs. Mattie Lamentha Pullins Scott, age 84 of San Antonio, Texas passed away at her home on July 3, 2025. She was born in Pageton, West Virginia on November 14, 1940 to the late Fletcher Pullins and Martha Lou Phillips Pullins. She was one of fourteen children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Artis Scott; one grandson, Victor Scott, Jr.; and eight siblings, Fletcher Pullins, Jr., Irene Stubblefield, Genetta Moore, Della Pilson, Henry Pullins, Annie Gertrude Harris, Glenda Joseph, and James Garfield Pullins.
Mrs. Scott graduated from Patrick Central High School in Stuart VA in 1958. Afterwards, she transitioned to Mt. Vernon New York to embark on her new life where she met her husband of over 50 years, Robert A. Scott. Her love for people steered her to the field of care giving. Shortly thereafter, she dedicated her life to Christ and created a wonderful home for her family. As a dedicated mother, Mattie raised four children, instilling in them the values of kindness, hard work, and resilience. Her unwavering love left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Scott are her four sons, Victor Scott (Gaynelle) of San Antonio, Texas, Robert A. Scott of Florida, New York, Alvin Scott (Chris) of San Diego, California; and Rodney Scott of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Joi Hepler, Joshua Scott (Rebekah), Robert Scott, III, and Rodney Scott, Jr; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Hepler and Noah Scott; four sisters, Dorothy Pullins of Stuart, Virginia, Hattie Pullins of High Point, North Carolina, Marquentia Pullins of High Point, North Carolina, and Alesia Bratton of Jamestown, North Carolina; and one brother, Laymon Pullins (Carolyn) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a beloved cousin, Leondi Murphy (Benny) of Columbia, South Carolina; daughter by choice, Mrs. Naomi Foster (John) of Mt. Vernon, New York; and a great host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A homegoing service will be held for Mrs. Scott on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor C. Leander Pilson officiating. The burial will follow in the family’s Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
