Maureen Lucille Flanagan Evans was born on September 14, 1965 in Houston, Texas. With profound sadness, we share her unexpected passing at age 59 on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in Houston, Texas.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents Mary Elizabeth Flanagan and Robert Stan Flanagan. She is survived by her daughter, Megan Evans and three sisters: Kathleen Flanagan Spell, Beth Flanagan Fruge, and Ginger Flanagan McKnight.
Maureen grew up in Houston,TX and graduated from Spring Branch High School in May of 1983. She began attending college at Texas Tech University where she majored with a Bachelors of Social Work. Upon graduating college, she put her social work degree to work, helping the children and families of Houston through foster care and adoption placements with Child Protective Services. Leading with her heart, she helped families grow and advocated for the vulnerable children's voices of Houston. A natural care taker, Maureen was an animal lover and also helped foster and rescue many pets including six dogs and four cats. Her home was never empty and always full of love.
Maureen had a personality you felt when you met her and a laugh that was contagious. Known for her kind spirit and whit filled humor, she made friends wherever she went! Maureen was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, caretaker and friend. However, her proudest accomplishment was motherhood.
Maureen will be dearly missed by friends and family and felt by all in the lives she touched.
Donations may be made to Catholic Charities.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., January 18, 2025 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 10135 West Road in Houston, Texas.

Oh Moe! May our Lord Jesus Christ hold you in His arms & fill your soul with peace! Your death has shaken me to my core. Does not seem possible. Girl, the memories! High school escapades (sneaking out of your parents house), our community college days @ HCC (studying for college exams while sunbathing in my parents' pool & drinking wine coolers) & our oh so memorable days at Steak & Ale together (all the late nite parties @ Dave's house after work!). All treasured memories for me, Moe! That doesn't even include all the memories through our 20's - concerts, clubs, HLSRodeo, Kellie's beach house. Most of all though, I remember your beautiful eyes & your laughter! You could always make me laugh! Rest in peace my old friend, sweet Moe! I know you are in Jesus' arms and looking down on all of us now. I pray that our Heavenly Father grants Megan & Ginger & Kathy & Beth & their families peace, comfort & understanding during this very difficult loss. Luci
