Maureen "Reeni" Ann (DeRose) Holston, age 64, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, with her loving husband by her side.
Born on July 15, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, Maureen was a proud 1980 graduate of Denby High School. Before meeting her husband, she worked as a kitchen designer and held several other positions she was proud of throughout her life.
Maureen was married to her devoted husband, David Holston, for 29 wonderful years. The two were married on September 14, 1996, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. They made their home first in Warren and later in Sterling Heights, where they built a life full of love, adventure, and family.
Together, Maureen and David enjoyed many adventures-riding their Harley, cruising on their pontoon boat, and traveling with their children to their cherished family property in Gaylord, Michigan. Maureen was known for her vibrant and adventurous spirit-especially on a Jet Ski, where she had only two speeds: stop and full throttle.
A talented and creative soul, Maureen was an avid crafter who loved making handmade cards for holidays and special occasions. Her thoughtful creations brought joy to many, and she never missed an opportunity to brighten someone's day.
Maureen is survived by her beloved children: Melissa Holston, Loretta Slater (Bryan), Elizabeth Holston (Joe), and David Holston (Christine). She was a proud grandmother to Alyssa, Autumn, Bryan, Richard, Nathan, and David, and a loving great-grandmother to Victoria, Isla, Lincoln, Laila, and baby Hudson, who is on the way. She is also survived by her dear brother, Patrick DeRose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Felicia (Forkey) DeRose, and her brother Robert DeRose (Joanne).
Maureen also had a special place in her heart for her pets-Kosmo, Congo, Chopper, and her parrot, Aloha-who she cared for deeply.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held with a visitation on October 17, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke Ave.)., Utica. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Maureen's zest for life, her creativity, and the love she gave so freely will live on in all who knew and loved her.
