Maureen Woolf

Maureen Jensen Woolf of West Jordan, Utah passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 26, 1936, the fifth child of Heber and Hattie Jensen, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. She is survived by her sister Beth Durfey (Russell), and was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her eldest son David, her parents, and siblings Grant Lamar Jensen, Fay Law (Marion), Heber Lee Jensen (Louise), and Gordon Kent Jensen.

Maureen enjoyed her youth in Cardston, eventually moving to Edmonton when she was 14 years old. In high school, she excelled in academics, track, and choir. She met and dated the love of her life, Bill Woolf. Following high school, Maureen earned a teaching certificate and taught elementary school. Maureen and Bill were married in 1957, just 5 days after Bill returned from his LDS mission to British Columbia. They were sealed for time and all eternity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cardston, Alberta Temple, eventually bringing 5 children into the world: David, Ray, Lori, Deanna, and Carolyn.

Maureen always loved children and opened her home to many over the years, including Kathy McKay, Verdun Hindbull, Phil Charlie, and Julie Hendrix.

Maureen and Bill moved to the United States where Maureen was a major contributor to Bill's earning a PhD from Michigan State University.

While raising 4 children in tiny student housing, Maureen's ability to enjoy life and make the best out of things made life fun for the family.

They moved to Providence, Utah where Maureen was part of a women's singing quartet that performed at all sorts of venues, from fairs to funerals. They later moved to Littleton, Colorado where they took regular family hiking/camping trips, and completed many DIY projects.

Along with raising kids, and tireless church service, singing in the choir, and Scouting, they worked together in their own businesses. Bill had the big ideas and Maureen implemented all of the details. They worked seamlessly together for more than 30 years, blessing the lives of others in many ways.

Maureen's later years were spent writing life history books of family members, serving in the temple, and visiting with her 4 living children, 23 grandchildren, and 47 great-grandchildren.

She answered every call to serve she ever received. Maureen was happiest serving Bill and her family and in service to her church. She didn't spend much time on hobbies, choosing instead to spend most of her time in the service of others.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, April 5, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Copper Hills 7th Ward, 9227 S. Wild Clover Lane, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be from 12-12:45 p.m., also at the church.

Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
