Ms. Mavis Lee McReynolds Crisp, age 79, of Bluefield, Virginia, formerly of the Dix Creek area, passed away on April 5, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mavis was born January 10, 1946, in Dix Creek, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Walter McReynolds and Irene Smith McReynolds. She graduated from Tazewell High School and had dedicated her life to making a home for her family. She was well known for her fun-loving, outgoing spirit. She was full of life, a Lil spit fire, and a bit ornery. She never met a stranger and took in, loved, and cared for several generations of children. Mavis was a homebody who loved to dance and sing to older country songs, play cards, and watch old westerns. Mavis fiercely loved her family and was their confidant, best friend, cheerleader, rod of correction, and guiding light.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald E. Crisp; her daughter, Dawnda Denise Markham; her sister, Juanita Carol McReynolds Hanson; her special Aunt, Rita Cooper; and her sweet grandson, Jonathan Reynolds.
Those who remain to carry on her loving spirit are her,
Children:
Lisa Altizer of Bluefield, VA
Donald W. Crisp and his wife, Samantha of Linside, WV
Siblings:
Sharon McReynolds Thomas and her husband, John
Johnny Byrd and his wife, Pat
Grandchildren: Eric Patterson, Melody Speeks, Dustin Crisp
Great-grandchildren: Connor Patterson, Kylie Bennett, Roland Bennett, Hadley Jones, and Lexi Jean Deskins
A committal service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, Virginia, with the Rev. Mark Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at the cemetery. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
