Max Edward Gagermeier, of Alexandria, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on November 20, 1940, to his loving parents, Joseph and Nelda Gagermeier, at their family home on 1212 Mifflin Street in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

After graduating from high school, Max proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his four years of service, he began a 39-year career with the phone company (C&P, Bell Atlantic, AT&T, & Verizon Communications), where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and close friendships with his coworkers.

Max put God and family first in everything he did. A devout Catholic, he was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an usher at the noon Mass for years and also taught Bible study. He found joy in serving others and lived his faith through kindness, humility, and generosity.

Max loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, especially when they gathered to play games together. He coached several youth sports teams over the years, including baseball, basketball, softball, and soccer. He also loved volunteering for many years in his granddaughter's classroom, where he proudly served as a room parent. Whether on the field, in a classroom, or around the table, Max loved teaching others the strategies behind both games and life, lessons he shared with patience, wisdom, and a twinkle in his eye. Ever the competitor, he took great joy in friendly games with his grandchildren-especially when he could keep them humble!

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Linda Anne Gagermeier (Hetrick); his brother, Warren Ramsey, and wife Mary; his sister, Charlotte Veregge, and husband Jack; and his sister, Jean Lamberson, and husband Ray.

Max is survived by his daughter, LeeAnne Murrell, and her husband, Matt; his son, Ed Gagermeier, and his wife, Bonnie; his five grandchildren - Danielle Whalen, Abigail Gagermeier, Joseph Murrell, Lauren Gagermeier, and Trey Gagermeier - and his great-grandson, Jackson Stearns. Multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive him. Later in life, Max Gagermeier remarried and is survived by his wife, Audrey Kathleen Gagermeier (Murawski).

Max will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his devotion to family, and his generous spirit. His legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and guidance will live on through all who were blessed to know him.
