Maxine Ludwig
Maxine Ludwig, 98, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 17, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1927, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to John and Nell Corrigan.
On September 6, 1950, Maxine married Donald Ludwig, with whom she shared 67 loving years of marriage until his passing in 2018. The couple moved to Urbandale in 1950, where they raised four children. Maxine worked at Kmart for 25 years and later spent 20 years at the Bucs Arena, taking tickets alongside her husband.
Maxine was a twin and shared a close bond with her sister Maude and their families spent a lot of quality time together before Maude's passing in 1999. A caring and faithful sister, Maxine enjoyed life's simple pleasures-fishing, crocheting, solving puzzles, and taking car rides. She especially loved watching her grandchildren play sports.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Ludwig; 12 siblings; grandson, Dustan Towne; and son-in-law, Jerry Krenz.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Sandy Krenz of Dike, IA; Peggy (Mark) Daughenbaugh of Altoona, IA; Dona (Don) Ludwig of Des Moines, IA; and Rick (Debra) Ludwig of Urbandale, IA. Maxine is also survived by six grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Maxine was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
Services for Maxine will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Merle Hay Funeral Home (4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310). There will be a visitation at 11:00 AM with a formal service starting at 12:00 PM, followed by a committal service at Chapel Hill Gardens (4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, IA 50310).
