Jeffrey Alan McGinn was born on Tuesday night, February 28, 1967, in Newton Iowa. He was the only child of Barbara Thompson (McGinn) Wells and Gary Eldon McGinn. His young life was spent in Newton, attending Newton schools until his senior year in high school. After moving to Des Moines, he graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1985. Per family requests, no services are planned.
Through the peaks and valleys of his life he lived mostly in Des Moines and the surrounding areas. He enjoyed sports, building his own computers and playing video games. He loved animals, both cats and dogs.
In the last few months of his life, he found happiness and comfort with his special friend Pam Evers. They enjoyed playing pool and were planning a long list of happy adventures to enjoy together. Unfortunately, the demons of his past would not allow his happiness to continue. Jeff died sometime the weekend of August 15th. His body was recovered from the Des Moines River on August 18th. The cause of his death is still pending however street drug abuse was most likely a contributing factor.
Jeff is survived by his beloved son, Brian A McGinn and Brian's wife Elizabeth, his mother, Barbara Wells, his adored partner, Pam Evers, his favorite stepsister, Heather Gomis, his stepmother Marcy Case and many cousins and their families spread across the country.
Preceding Jeff in death were his father, Gary E McGinn, stepfather Tim Wells, Aunt Carolyn McGinn Flowers, grandparents Eldon and Maxine McGinn and Bob and Clarice Thompson.
God, Thank You for the life You gave him and for the moments of joy and connection he shared with us. We know he wrestled with great pain and addiction, but we trust in Your infinite mercy and grace. Please forgive all his sins and shortcomings, including those related to his illness, and grant him a place in Your loving embrace.
