McKenna Grace Counterman
McKenna Grace Counterman, of Bartlesville, OK, was greeted with open arms by our Heavenly Father on September 10, 2024 at the age of 20.
McKenna was born July 28, 2004 in Tulsa, OK to David and Julie Counterman where she fought through 15 days in the NICU before coming home to Bartlesville.
McKenna graduated from Bartlesville High School in 2022, and previously attended Central Middle School and Kane Elementary in Bartlesville. She always exceled at Math and loved performing with the choir from 6th to 12th grade. She was a Junior at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK, studying for a degree in Elementary Education.
McKenna always had a passion for dance starting at the age of 3, performing with the Bartlesville Civic Ballet and Inspriations Dance Studio. She danced in a number of productions, most notably the Nutcracker, where she started as a baby angel and a mouse, and ultimately achieved her goal of performing as Clara. She also danced in other ballet peformances including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Dracula, and Coppelia. While normally quiet and reserved, the ballet stage was McKenna's "happy place" and she lit up the room when her feet hit the stage.
McKenna's other hobbies included being on the water, preferably at the lake or pool. She had grown to love waterskiing and tubing, and would tolerate fishing trips with her father. She also loved jigsaw puzzles and could complete a 1000-piece puzzle within a couple days. You rarely saw McKenna without a Dr Pepper. Some of her greatest loves were her dogs, Bella, Sniffles, Tika, and Hazel. McKenna's faith was also an integral part of her life, regularly spending time in prayer and diving into scripture.
Remaining to cherish McKenna's memory are her parents David and Julie Counterman of Bartlesville; her brother Jacob Hendrickson and his wife Cayla of Moore, OK; her sister Tara Hendrickson and her fiance Corban Lawrence of Moore, OK; her niece Lakely Ann Lawrence of Moore, OK, to whom she was a very proud Aunt "Nenna"; her maternal grandmother Doris Keeler of Ochelata, OK; her paternal grandmother Minh Counterman of Bartlesville, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Preceding McKenna in death are her maternal grandfather Donald Keeler of Ochelata, OK and her paternal grandfather Phil Counterman of Bartlesville, OK.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bartlesville Civic Ballet or the SPCA, both organizations that McKenna loved and supported.
Guests are invited to wear something pink in honor of McKenna.
