Melody Ann Dove Lennon, age 75, of Bladenboro passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 while at the Lower Cape Fear Lifecare Center in Whiteville, NC. She was born on November 9, 1947 to the late Clyde A. Dove Sr. and Clara Leigh Cain Dove. She graduated from Bladenboro High School in 1966 and accompanied her husband on a 2-year tour in the Army from 1967-1969. Melody earned her Registered Nurse Diploma from Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton, NC, and worked in hospitals in Morganton, Lumberton, and Whiteville.
Melody was predeceased by her parents as well as sister Diana Dove Callihan and sister-in-law Lendra Dove of Dublin. She is survived by her husband Charles Livious Lennon of the home, a son Dr. Kenneth Charles Lennon and wife Leigh Ann of High Point, a daughter Sherry Lennon Autry and husband Joey of Bladenboro. She is also survived by her six grandchildren who were the center of her thoughts. Grandchildren are Shelby Lennon of Raleigh, Logan Autry West and husband Trent of Bladenboro, Bryce Lennon of High Point, Lainey Autry of Bladenboro, Caroline Lennon of High Point, and Ryleigh Lennon of High Point. Also surviving are brothers Wayne Dove of Dublin and Al Dove of Bladenboro, brother-in-law Hiram Callihan of Bladenboro and sister-in-law Kathy Dove of Bladenboro and several nieces and nephews.
Melody was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Bladenboro, then Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Morganton, and for the last 45 years Galeed Baptist Church in Bladenboro.
The family will receive family and friends at 10 am, with the funeral at 11 am on Saturday, July 29th at Galeed Baptist Church in Bladenboro. A brief graveside will follow the service. The Reverends Joey Autry and J.S. Parrish will be officiating the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Galeed Church Youth, 571 Galeed Church Rd, Bladenboro, NC 28320 or Southeastern Carolina Crossroads Funds, 1086 Susie Sand Hill Road, Elizabethtown, North Carolina 28337.
