Melvin “Mel” Ellis Curtiss Jr., 74 of Germantown passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 11, 2025 at his home. Mel was born in Moline, Illinois on April 5, 1951 to Melvin and Harriet (Zink) Curtiss. He was raised in Oxford, WI and graduated from Westfield High School in 1969, from there he continued on to become a law enforcement office most notably for the Sun Prairie Police Department as a youth services detective for nearly 15 years.
In 1987, Mel left the force to take on the defense of the Gospel through founding the M and M team and teach young people about life choices in full time ministry in churches, camps and schools.
Mel was united in marriage on September 5, 1970 to Rosamund “Joyce” Morris in Oxford. The next 55 years have been a blessing. Mel was an exemplary standard of spousal devotion, fatherhood, and manhood. He mentored many lives in their faith, marriage and daily living. A man never wavering on his biblical stance and moral fiber sharing the saving love of Jesus to the individual and the masses while always being a defender of “the little guy”.
Mel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce, son, Paul and his wife Heather of 26 years along his two grandchildren: Westley and Sadie and three sisters.
Mel is preceded in death by his parents and twin sons: Peter and Andrew.
A memorial service for Melvin Curtiss Jr. will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Fall Baptist Church, N69W12703 Appleton Ave, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. There will be no visitation. Private family inurnment will take place at Underhill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee.
