Melvin Manroe "Mel" Haun

Melvin "Mel" Manroe Haun, 82, of Baxter, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023. Ermy his beloved wife of more than 50 years was at his side.
Mel was born June 30, 1941, in Franklin, Pennsylvania, to the late George Manroe and Gladys Helen (White) Haun.
A motivated self-starter, Mel left home at an early age and struck out to build a life for himself.
He spent that life serving the public and loving his family. A private and reserved man he rarely spoke about himself or his exploits and experiences.
Those fortunate enough to have had their lives touched by Mel knew him as the Hunter, Fisherman, Pilot, Policeman, Naval Warrior, Grandpa, Dad, and doting Husband.
He is survived by his wife Erma, son Mike Haun and his wife, Cindy, daughter Kim Sutch, Sons Bill Haun and his wife Cheryl, and Mel Jr. Haun (Susan), as well as ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, George Haun, and Gladys (White) Haun, five sisters, and two brothers.
Mel chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and no service is scheduled at this time, however, the family plans to hold a small private celebration of his life at a date to be determined.
His love lives on through us. Even as his light fades, his memory burns bright.
