Melvin passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 at 87 years young. God received an angel that day. Melvin did not know a stranger. He would conversate with anyone he came into contact with. He was always happy to help in any way he could. Melvin’s family was his pride and joy. Some of his favorite past times were having lunch with all of his grandchildren, fair week at the farm, or just being with family and friends. He will be missed by many.
Melvin was born on August 9, 1936 to Leo and Amelia (Zey) Imhoff in Kansas City, KS. He moved to the family farm in Prairie Home, MO in 1946, where he graduated Prairie Home High School in 1954. After high school he joined the Army and served in Germany. After the Army, Melvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Ruth Baer. He graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with an accounting degree. Melvin and Ruth moved to Kansas City, MO where Melvin spent most of his working career as a Comptroller at Mobil-Teria Catering in Raytown, MO. Melvin and Ruth raised four children in Kansas City, MO. Melvin was very active in their childhood including coaching little league sports, camping, vacationing, and hobby farming. He was an active member of San Raphael Church. He enjoyed family, friends, camping and any outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Imhoff (Baer); his parents Leo and Amelia (Zey) Imhoff; two brothers Leo and Paul Imhoff; and grandson Nicholas Fore.
He is survived by son, John Imhoff (Karen); son Steve Imhoff; daughter Pam Fore (Kim); and son Brian Imhoff (Cindy); grandchildren Mandy Nickell (Evan), Blake Fore (Casey), Abbey, Paige, Sam and Zack Imhoff; great grandchildren, Ava, Bennett and Caroline Nickell, Amelia and Monroe Fore, and Taytum Imhoff; one brother Robert “Bob” Imhoff (Eleanor); two sister’s-in-law, Barbara and Norma Imhoff; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 6th, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N. State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Glenridge Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cedron Cemetery Fund Debbie Swanson, 59023 Hwy U Jamestown, MO 65046 or Our Lady of Mercy Country Home, 2115 Maturana Dr Liberty, MO 64068.
