Melvin Matthew Tolbert

Melvin Matthew Tolbert, 54 of Victoria, Texas passed away August 21, 2025.
Born January 21, 1971 in Victoria, Texas, Melvin was a proud Veteran of The United States Army. He served 11 1/2 years, achieving the rank of E5 Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Victoria where he became a barber. He was a 1989 graduate of Stroman High School.
Melvin was a father, brother, friend and uncle to many. Melvin enjoyed being a barber and a great uncle. Melvin was a jack of all trades! He loved to cook, work on vehicles and his favorite past time was fishing. Melvin loved helping people. His kindness, humor and generosity will be forever missed.
Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Rayna A. Tolbert; mother, Georgia M. Brown; grandmother, Mel M. Allen and a host of uncles.
He is survived by his sons, Zuri Tolbert, Richard Barefield; father, Joe Leonard Alley; sister, Theresa Tolbert; brother, Maurice Tolbert; nephews, Clifford (Shawn) Tolbert, Christopher D. Johnson; niece, Janessa Johnson; great-nephew, Ivan Johnson. Melvin is remembered by his many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy., in Victoria, Texas.
