Mercedes Ernestine Moore, 70, of McPherson, KS, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at McPherson Hospital.

She worked as an Extruder Operator and Safety Coordinator for CertainTeed Plastics.
She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Shadduck of McPherson, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her sister, Kathlene Becker of McPherson.

My grandma, Mercedes Buster, wasn't just my grandma - • she was my mom, my hero, and my best friend.
She was the one who raised me, • taught me right from wrong, • and shaped me into the person I am today.
When my mom couldn't be there, • my grandma stepped in without hesitation. • She gave me a kind of love that made me feel safe, • no matter what life threw at us.
Mercedes was one of the hardest-working people I've ever known - • stubborn in the best way, • independent, • and always determined to do things herself.
But under that tough shell was a heart that was enormous and giving. • No matter how much she had on her plate, • she always found a way to help the people she loved - • and even strangers if they needed it.
She would've given the shirt off her back for someone else, • and she truly meant it.
Our bond was something special. • She used to say I was her favorite - and maybe I was. • We were two peas in a pod. • We understood each other in ways that didn't need words.
Even when she got sick, • even when cancer tried to take everything from her, • she never stopped being her.
She still tried to take care of me, • still worried about me, • and still fought with every ounce of strength she had.
Mercedes wasn't your typical cookie-baking grandma, • but she had her own kind of sweetness. • It was in her laugh, • her hugs, • her advice, • and the way she could make everything feel okay just by being there.
I don't really know how to live in a world without her yet. • She was the person I looked up to - • the woman I wanted to be when I grew up.
But I know her memory will never leave me. • She's a part of everything I do, • and I'll carry her with me for the rest of my life.
Grandma, I hope you know how proud I am of you. • Of the strength you showed, • the love you gave, • and the life you lived.
And I hope one day, • I'll make you just as proud of me.
