Minister Maria Nelson, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Meredith Louise Brooks Williams was the daughter of Robert and Ruby Brooks, born in Tallahassee, Florida, on June 23, 1931. She attended Dobyville Elementary School, GW Carver Jr. High School, and as part of the Class of 1949, she graduated from Middleton High School. With her love of education, she was a Substitute Teacher in Hillsborough County Public Schools.
Ms. Merdis (as we all affectionately called her) joined New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at a young age and was baptized by Reverend Paul H. Jackson. She sang in Choir #2 and the Mass Choir, and she also served compassionately as part of The Missionary Society, The Golden Angels, and the Culinary/Floral Ministries. Ms. Merdis took pride in serving faithfully with a Smile and Grace. Even as her health began to decline, she served in smaller roles, always making herself available whenever and wherever in the Ministry. Ms. Merdis loved the Lord and instilled these values in her family. Her hobbies included going on cruises and watching football.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Robert and Ruby Brooks; and her youngest brother, William Brooks.
She leaves to cherish loving memories with: her beloved daughter, Joyce Elaine Williams; her grandson, Devon Williams; and a host of cousins, close friends, and her New Salem M.B. Church Family.
Visitation will be held at Ray Williams Funeral Home on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
