Meredith "Dottie" Seaton

Meredith "Dottie" Seaton, a devoted follower of Christ, went to be with the Lord at 87 years of age on December 6, 2025 at her home. She lived a life filled with faith and love and always had encouragement and a warm smile for those around her.
Dottie was born February 15, 1938, in Peoria to the late Ralph and Mabel Burris Dykstra. She attended Illinois State University, Bradley University, and University of Illinois, joining the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and earning her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 3 years. On June 28, 1959, she married her sweetheart, Don Seaton, in Washington. They had a yearlong honeymoon in Colorado Springs, CO while Don served in the US Army at Fort Carson, CO. Dottie and Don were blessed with 61 wonderful years of marriage, love, and devotion to each other until Don's passing in 2021. She is remembered by many for her years of teaching in Washington's grade schools, helping countless students learn to read, and for her 60 plus years of faithful membership at Crossroads Global Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Lisa (Michael) Chambon of Minden, NV; three grandchildren, Melissa Chambon of Portland, OR, Alison (Daniel) Riddle of San Diego, CA, and Jesse Hexamer of Peoria; four great-grandchildren; one brother, James Seaton of Delavan; daughter-in-law, Laura Seaton of Washington; cousin, Dean Norris and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son, David Brent Seaton; and her siblings Doris Dykstra and Michael Dykstra.
Private services will be held at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with interment at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
