May your heart will be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Merle was undoubtedly a great person, friend and co-worker!! Always there to help before being asked. He really made a difference in many lives

First met Merle at Turkey Creek Ranch . My family volunteered at the ranch. Merle was the most outgoing, funniest and true person you could every meet. He taught met how to drive the team of Belgians that pulled the stagecoach. Taught me how to weld, not as good as him, but I could draw a bead. Took us to the hunt camp , rode horses and was just a great friend. Both of us drove to Oregon to pick up Deanna's car and tow it back to Colorado. Merle was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

I've known Merle (uncle merle) since I was 9 years old. He became family to the Blackshaws at Turkey Creek Ranch. He lived with us for a while. He used to braid my hair for me. Horses were life. I spoke to him a couple of years ago after searching for him forever. The camping, the riding, the " you can have breakfast after you feed the horses" life lessons. He is deeply missed. My condolences to the family.

I worked with Merle at BLM for many years. He was a dependable, hard worker who absolutely loved his job and life in general. As everyone knew he really enjoyed helping people; all you had to do was ask. He was always pulling pranks. One day I left the office after work and got in my truck to leave but when I put it in gear and it wouldn´t move. I thought my transmission was out, then I looked up and saw Merle watching me from an office window with the biggest grin. He had put my rear axle on blocks. I loved that man.
