Merle Darwin Wolgamott, 82, of Massillon, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Merle was born on February 7, 1943 the son of the late Arthur and Opal (Barr) Wolgamott.
Merle was a lifelong resident of Massillon and a 1961 graduate of Washington High School. He was a United States Army veteran, and helped build the Pershing Missile. He retired from Bulkmatic Transport after 30 years of service. He received an award for One Million Safe Driving Miles. He was an active member of the Son's of Herman, VFW, and Eagles #190. He loved horse shoes, golfing, and bowling in multiple leagues around Stark County. He was passionate about mowing lawns for family and friends. He loved his motorcycle, fishing, and his cat 'Blackie'. He was a pancake connoisseur and he loved making them for his grandchildren. You could always catch him watching old Westerns, especially The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke and Bonaza. He enjoyed long road trips with his wife, Karla, by his side. He was a friend to all critters and never met a dog he didn't like.
He is survived by his children, Lynette (David) Roberts, Jason Wolgamott, and Tiffany (Donnie Anderson) Motz; grandchildren, Samuel Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Tessa Roberts, Benjaman Roberts, Jenna Motz, Kaitlyn Motz, Jeremy Motz, Ruby Motz, and Gabriel McCollam; great-grandchild, Bear; his brother/best friend, LaVerne Wolgamott; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karla Wolgamott; and granddaughter, Ashley Wolgamott.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10 am at Brookfield Cemetery.
