Mia Blythe Creed, age 13, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a brief battle with a rare form of cancer.
She was born on October 29, 2011, in Columbia, Mo., to Dustin Ray Creed and Amie Blythe Plank, both of whom survive. In her 13 years, she brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone who knew her. Mia was a devoted daughter, an amazing big sister, a standout student, and a true friend to many. Her kindness, bright spirit, and beautiful heart left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.
From the time she was a toddler, music was a part of her world. She had rhythm in her soul and a song in her heart – music was always playing around her, and she especially loved belting out to Taylor Swift (a forever favorite). She sang with Thomas Jefferson Middle School Choir and danced her heart out at 5,6,7,8 Dance Studio. She knew every song on the radio and never missed an opportunity for car karaoke. Wherever she went, Mia was ready to put on a show.
A Kansas City Chiefs fan, Mia adored Travis Kelce and Brittany Mahomes. She loved shopping (especially at Dollar Tree), riding horses, attending school functions, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, going to the movies, watching The Vampire Diaries, and Crumbl cookies. She had a deep love for travel and adventure - whether soaking up the sun in Panama City Beach, visiting Covington, Georgia (home of her favorite show), the Dance Moms studio in Pittsburgh, singing her heart out at concerts, or going to Big Surf every summer, she was always ready to explore.
Mia loved all things fun and girly. She loved experimenting with makeup and skincare, and spending time with her friends in her room. Her favorite colors were orange and pink, and she was almost never without her favorite lipstick or lip gloss. She also enjoyed getting her nails done with her mom and making bracelets with her mom and sister.
Most of all, she loved her family - movie nights with her mom, tv shows with her dad and stepmom, her dad's chicken wings, getting Mexican food with her stepdad, dancing with her dad, helping her Gran at the gift shop, trips to Branson with her Grandma Judy and Papa Harold, and pool days at her uncle Matt and aunt Tracy's house. She was a proud big sister to Vayda, her built-in best friend, Roblox buddy, and biggest fan on the soccer field. Holidays were special memories, especially dressing up for Halloween and baking Christmas cookies.
Strong and determined from the beginning, Mia will be remembered for her big personality, her love of music, and how much she cared about everyone around her. She touched so many lives and will be missed more than words can say.
She is survived by her parents, Dustin Creed (stepmom, Joanie Creed) of Columbia, Mo, and Amie Creed (stepdad, Brian Lucas) of Jefferson City; sister and best friend, Vayda Ann Lucas; paternal grandparents, Harold "Papa" and Judy Creed; maternal grandmother, Terri "Gran" Plank; uncle, Matt Plank (Tracy); cousin, Sophia Plank; step-grandparents, Sam Roedel (Nancy Martin), Theresa Roedel, and John and Jeannie Lucas; step-aunt and uncle, Beau and Johnny Lucas; step-aunt, Alison Andrews (Cheyney); step-cousins, Renner Lucas and Layla and Miles Andrews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Gabriel Allen-Ray Creed, and maternal grandfather, Jim Allen "Pappie" Plank.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Capital Bluffs Event Center, 1616 Oilwell Road, Suite B, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the event center followed by an informal time of visiting until 5:00 p.m.
To honor Mia and some of her favorite things, the family invites everyone to celebrate her memory by wearing orange or pink, or by showing up in Taylor Swift attire or Kansas City Chiefs gear.
Memorial contributions are encouraged and suggested to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 2502 Cherry Street Kansas City, MO 64108.
