PRATTVILLE, AL: Michael J. Allen of Prattville, Alabama passed away Tuesday, June 18 2024, after a very difficult and delicate surgery, with his family by his side.
Mike was born in Hornell on January 11, 1960 to Stewart and Helen Allen. He graduated from Greenwood Central School in 1978. In 1979, he joined the United States Air Force where he served for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the VA in Bath for 5 years as a dental lab technician, after which he moved to Alabama to worked at Maxwell Air Force base in Civil Service until he retired April 26, 2024.
While in Alabama, Mike was very much involved with his church where he devoted his time as a marriage, drug and alcohol counselor.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Juanita of Prattville, AL, his sons, Nicholas (Hannah) of Fort Wainwright, Alaska and Zachary of South Haven, Mississippi. Four grandchildren, Steven, Sophia, Gabriel, and Audrey. His siblings, Erwin (Elaine) Allen of Hornell, David (Sharon) Allen of Greenwood, Jeanette Stock of Canisteo, Paula (Larry) Kinney, Stewart (Lorraine McNeill) Allen, Susanne (Steve) Turner, Waneta (Steve Dutschke) Crosby, Ethan (Patty) Allen, AJ (Joanne Ordiway) Allen of Rexville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, daughter (Miranda), sister (Elaine Tracy) and three brothers-in-law, Robert House, Clayton Stock and David Tracy.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Greenwood Town Barns from Noon-until.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the Young Hickory Cemetery in the town of Troupsburg at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to the Journey Church, 435 Sheila Blvd., Prattville, AL 36066.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo.
