Michael Anthony Baccus
(March 24, 1975 - April 11, 2025)
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Mike Baccus. Mike was born March 24, 1975, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Jim & Christie Baccus. He was the oldest of two sons, mostly raised in Arlington from young ages. Mike is a graduate of Martin High School, 1993.
Mike’s work was in Land Surveying for most of his career, as he loved being outdoors. He was very good at what he loved doing. Mike lived life “large” but was a very kind, generous and humorous person with a great big heart. Mike was devoted to friends and family and could always be counted on. Mike was born with a natural artistic talent and could draw anything he set his mind to. Because of his wittiness, he left those who loved him with many funny quips and memories to last a lifetime. Mike was a lover of music, particularly rock, all animals, especially his dog “Griswold”, hanging out with friends and doing Karaoke or playing Trivia. He was fascinated with the weather, enjoyed history and documentaries and movies like his favorite, The Shawshank Redemption.
Mike succumbed to this life on April 11th, at the age of 50, after a long health battle with heart disease and strokes.
Mike’s family feels very blessed and relieved by Mike’s decision to accept Christ, just a few hours prior to his passing. Many thanks go to Pastor Jimmy McNeil, who visited him diligently and was able to build a rapport and walk him through salvation in the 11th hour.
Mike was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John & Pauline Birch and Uncle, Wesley Birch. His paternal grandparents, Troy & Wauneeze Baccus and Aunt, Betty Jean Blair.
A visitation for close friends and family was held at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas on Saturday, April 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 4400 Pleasantview Dr, Arlington, TX 76017 on Saturday, May 24th at 11:00am.
Mike leaves behind his loving and devoted parents, Jim & Christie Baccus, and brother Keith Baccus, nephew Dylan Baccus, who all stood so strong and worked very hard to get Mike through these last difficult years of navigating his health struggles. Mike also leaves behind a son, whom he adopted out at birth, born in 1994, now aged 30.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for all the prayers, calls, flowers, cards, and countless other expressions of love and kindness during this time of bereavement, as well as during Mike’s final decline.
Rest in peace with no more pain, “Big Mike” …you were loved beyond words, by so many!!
