Michael A. Baumann, born on May 22, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA, was a charismatic and generous soul whose life was marked by his dedication to his family, friends, and community. His quick wit and supportive nature created many friendships, and he loved his hometown of Philly. His love for life was infectious and his hearty laughter had the power to brighten any room. He was a funny man, with a knack for storytelling that left everyone around him in stitches. Michael was truly one-of-a-kind.
Michael spent his career with the Red Cross as a Blood Drive Coordinator, a role that reflected his generous spirit and dedication to helping others. He continued to contribute to his community as a poll watcher and indulged his passion for reading and participating in Book Club, avid Phillies fan and loved drama and music. He was a proud alumnus of Northeast Catholic High School and La Salle College, and he spent time teaching English at St. Cecilia's School, imparting his love for the written word to a new generation. The Bible verse that best reflects Michael's life is from Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Michael lived this verse every day, letting his light shine brightly and touching the lives of everyone he met.
Michael is survived by his nephews Chris Bairstow and his wife Paula, Darryl Bairstow and his wife Michele, Davey Baumann, Jonathan Baumann, and Timmy Baumann and his wife Sara, niece Megan Bowman and her husband Duane, his brother-in-law Steven Bairstow, and his sister-in-law Janice Baumann. He will also be missed by his many great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Laura Baumann, his brother David Baumann, his sister Judy Bairstow and his niece Lauren Bairstow.
Relatives and friends may greet Michael's family on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Lambie Funeral Home 8000 Rowland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Michael's funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the New Cathedral Cemetery.

I worked at the Red Cross and knew Michael. He was funny, cheerful, a hard worker and always lit up any room he was in. He shared his story of kissing the Blarney Stone. I know the angels are celebrating him. I am thankful I knew him, God Speed Michael.

I was teaching a cabaret class that a friend told him about. He called me up and said I have never sung on a stage but it is my life dream do you think you could help me? Trust me no help was needed. Michael took to the stage and continued entertaining us for years performing some of the most fun songs and telling wonderful stories. He was a huge part of our cabaret family who all loved him dearly
