Michael James Bluto

The family of Michael J (Sun Bear) Bluto, 71, of St. Albans, announces that he passed away peacefully October 21, 2025, in St. Albans. He was born in St. Albans, April 29, 1954 to Oison and Anna (Dion) Bluto.
Michael will be remembered by many for being a kind, helpful, and a generous gentleman. He was deeply loved by so many in our community.Michael was proud of his Abenaki heritage. When he got out of the service, he would go with others, and educate people about the history of his ancestors for over 40 years.When Michael was younger, he loved to go ice fishing on Samson's Point. He would never keep the fish, but gave them to others to sell. He also liked to go to yard sales and purchase something small, and then give it to someone who would appreciate it. He never forgot to send a birthday card for everyone he loved. Michael was a member of the American Legion Post #1 in St. Albans and the Disabled American Veterans..
He is survived by his children David Driver of White River, VT and Erin Bluto of Hastings, Nebraska, two grandsons, Brandon and Bradley, his sister Linda Richard and her husband Earl of St. Albans, VT, his brothrs Carl Bluto of Georgia, VT, Allen Bluto of St. Albans Bay, VT, Marvin Bluto and his wife June of Highgate, VT., several nieces and nephews, and many community friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Oison and Anna Bluto, his sisters Julie Morse and Corrine Bluto and his brother Kenneth Bluto.
A Remembrance Gathering will be held at a later date.
As an alternative to flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, 100 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488.
