Mike was born on March 22, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; he was the son of Gator Carl and Carolyn Faye (Monholland) Box. Mike grew up, attended school throughout Oklahoma, and completed his education at Edmond Memorial High School. Following the completion of his education, he joined the National Guard. Mike and Cindy were married on July 4, 2018, in Jennings, Oklahoma, after 20 years of being together.

Mike always enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and being with his grandkids. He also liked riding his motorcycle and collecting guns. During his over-the-road trucking, Mike and Cindy always loved stopping and seeing the country.
