Michael Allen Carte, age 71, of Charleston, WV, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Charleston Area Medical Center after a short battle with spinal cancer complicated by COVID pneumonia.
"Mike," as he was better known, was born January 6, 1952, to Daniel and Eva Mae (Woodall) Carte. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by cousin, Kelly Woodall, and niece, Kimberlie Rowshan.
Survivors include his longtime loving spouse, Elitha Gross; his children, Jeremy (Christina) Carte, Brittany (Lee) Edwards and Matthew (Stephanie) Carte, as well as Heather (Matt) Perry, Jonathan (Santana) Gross; sister, Karen (Rick) Gallegos; grandchildren, Logan, Abigail, Daniel, Parker, Ava, Matthew, Kaylee, JJ, Austin, and one great-grandbaby, Ivory.
Mike graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1971. He worked as a Contract Painter for 50-plus years, many of which he ran his own business. He loved football and was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed golf, but his favorite hobby was fishing by far and he could frequently be found on the riverbank with his cousin/best friend, Ricky Woodall. He was quite the character and could always make you laugh. Mike will be missed by many.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28,2023, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street E., Charleston, WV. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
