In Loving Memory of Michael Lee Cooper
April 12, 1985 - April 29, 2025
Raleigh, North Carolina
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael Lee Cooper, a beloved son,
brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, who departed this life on April 29, 2025, at the age of 40.
Born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Michael was the cherished son of Patricia Ann Cooper
and the late James Franklin Cooper. He was a gentle soul who brought joy and light to everyone he
encountered. Michael had a passion for life - he enjoyed lifting weights, making music, and staying
connected with friends through Facebook. He found peace in self-expression and took pride in
sharing his creativity with the world.
Michael was the loving brother of Marcus Franklin McKenith (deceased), and Laquan Cooper (New
Jersey). He is survived by his devoted sister, Lakeisha Nicole Hagan, and brother-in-law, Calvin
Hagan of Raleigh, NC. He was a proud uncle to Malik Rashad Hill, Zaylin Hagan, and Zayia Noelle
Hagan, each of whom he adored deeply.
He was the grandson of Pegletha Cooper and Barbara Ann Lesane, both of whom have also gone
on before him. Michael was also blessed with a large extended family who loved him dearly,
including five aunts: Essie Reaves (deceased), Gracie Woodberry, Mae Francis Cooper, Carolyn
Cooper, and Dorothy Carmichael of Zion, SC. His five uncles include the late Jimmy Lee Cooper
and Joethan Cooper, as well as Charles Cooper, Dewayne Cooper, and Levon Roberts of Zion, SC.
Michael will always be remembered for his warm smile, his passion for living life out loud, and his
deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and light.
