Michael "Mike" Craig

Michael "Mike" Craig, 73 of New Whiteland, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born on September 29, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jack Craig, Sr. and Alice (Treeter) Craig. He married Deborah (Callaway) Craig on January 14, 1972. They were married fifty-two years. She lovingly survives. Also surviving is their daughter, Angela Peyton (Patrick); grandchildren, Miranda Craig-Wright (Brandon Luft); Courtney Craig-Wright (Joseph Baumgartner); Nathan Craig-Wright (Shi-Anna) and Anna Peyton; seven great grandchildren; and sisters, Patricia Smith (Rusty) and Kathryn Craig. He was preceded in passing by his parents and brother, Jackie Lee Craig, Jr.. He attended Emmanuel High School. Mike was a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was stationed in Saigon where he drove fuel tankers to the front lines. Mike was a firefighter at the Franklin Fire Department, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service. He served as the New Whiteland Fire Chief in the late 1980's and early 1990. He also served on the White River Fire Department in the 1970's. He was a member of the Jubilee Masonic Lodge in Whiteland, Indiana. He enjoyed boating and spending time at his lake house in Brookville, Indiana. He was an avid bowler, bowling on many bowling leagues over the years. He enjoyed playing cornhole. Mike was a jokester. A Celebration of Mike's life will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, September 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery where honors will be conducted by the Franklin Fire Department Honor Guard.
